Colwyn Bay to Chester

Finished filming the Welsh Coast Path! Every inch of the 870 miles -and genuinely really sad to see it go, didn’t really want it to end to be honest. Words defy description, simply amazing will suffice. The last dash to Chester felt herculean, started at 2pm in the afternoon -so it was a very late start, but it was mainly cycling and cycle route, certainly from Colwyn Bay to Rhyl and on to Prestatyn. Beach walking from there to Flint, and then biking intermittently down to Chester. Support crew was amazing, Jo and Jeanie we’re on board for this last stretch so with 5% battery left on my phone at 8.15 I announced “I was going for it!” And I’d see them in Chester’, how they found me I’ll never know. Cycling beside the Dee estuary pacing the last twelve miles into Chester at a lick, doing the stretch about half an hour, where I crossed the line a mile out of town in the dark, at 8.46pm on Friday night on the 23rd of August, exhausted and exhilarated.  Celebrated by sitting outside the Volkswagen dealership where the path starts eating cold pizza and drinking a root beer with Jo and Jeanie in the Cafe de Wheels, and it felt pretty good.  38 miles
